T-Series Transducers Overview
T-Series transducers incorporate a high degree of electrical and mechanical robustness in their design.
All key components are rated well in excess of their normal requirements which makes them extremely reliable under arduous operating conditions.
Inputs provide for the most commonly used current and voltage values as well as temperature sensors and resistance elements.
Outputs are standardised on commonly used values of current and voltage including live (suppressed) zero.
The design also caters for larger than normal output loads permitting the use of extra long cable runs or additional loads.
All transducers are designed to exceed the requirements of the international standard IEC 60688:1992 "Electrical measuring transducers for converting ac electrical quantities to analogue or digital signals".
Other standards applying to the units are the safety standard IEC 414 and the insulation standard IEC255 clauses 5, 6 and 8.
The standard accuracy of T-Series transducers is Class 0.5 (0.5% of span) as defined by IEC 60688.
Where a higher level of accuracy is justified they can be calibrated to Class 0.2 on special request.
A high galvanic separation exists between inputs, outputs and the auxiliary supply circuit to ensure the safety of sensitive equipment in the measurement system.
The outputs are current and voltage limited and incorporate surge protection to minimise the risk of damage due to faults or over voltage transients.
Three different enclosures are used in the manufacture of the T-series transducers depending on type or model.
Enclosures 55 and 100 are of similar construction but different in size.
The 55 is DIN rail mounting only but the 100 is both DIN rail and surface mounting.
Both are manufactured from flame retardant, high impact polycarbonate.
Connections are made by screw terminals which may be safety protected by an optional snap on cover.
Enclosure 25 is a slimline DIN rail or surface mount unit made from a flame retardant thermo plastic that will withstand temperatures up to 100°C.
All enclosures are to IP40 with terminals up to IP20.
